Education
The central idea of the High Desert Botanical Garden is education. An increased understanding of the incredible diversity of plant life in the High Desert region results in a greater appreciation for the ecology surrounding all of us. In turn, that appreciation builds support for conserving the biodiversity of our region, and helps grow a movement focused on water conservation and quality habitats in our own back (and front) yards.
The High Desert Botanical Garden provides living examples of the wonderful diversity found east of the Cascades, and offers opportunities to learn how to use those examples to build urban landscapes that conserve resources, build habitat for pollinators and other creatures, and provide beauty.
Courses, workshops, and events at the Garden teach the science and art of native plants, ecology based landscapes, and regional ecology. This is the primary goal of the High Desert Botanical Garden, and education is inherent in everything we do.
